Sustainability from the water up.

With an environment this sensitive and a lakefront location the mandate is clear. Build with careful consideration to preserving, conserving and respecting the land, water and air.

The Mission Group is a member of the Canadian Green Building Council and a Certified Built Green Builder. We take an Inspired Green approach with all of our new home communities. Our aim is to lessen our environmental impact in five areas.

  • Energy Efficiency
  • Water Conservation
  • Air quality
  • Waste Reduction
  • Transportation

Energy efficiency begins with the big decisions. Like going geothermal for our heating & cooling and sourcing energy efficient appliances and fixtures. The buildings will be readied for use of solar energy. The swimming pools will be heated with excess heat generated from the buildings. Advanced lighting will be specified to reduce consumption and ongoing costs. Overall the design is geared to maximize exposure to light year round.

As for water consumption, conservation and reduction is the key. Dual flush toilets cut down needless water flow.  We are harvesting the rainwater falling on the building for reuse. The significant water features will be fed by gray water from the buildings. The plantings will reflect a drought tolerant landscape philosophy and not necessitate frequent watering.

Transportation initiatives encourage walking and cycling rather than using automobiles - The pedestrian access in and around the site will be dramatically improved. Direct access to the Mission Creek Greenway is planned. Residents and visitors need not worry about their cycles as we will have convenient and secure bike lock-ups.

Respect for the environment is a yardstick for how our design, planning construction and landscaping teams are furthering the Aqua vision. Expect innovation.
